At our IB school, part of the graduation requirement is for students to engage in learning that is focused on Creativity, Activity, and Service. As we engage in education in these difficult times, I wanted to do a project with my Advisory/IB Core students that helped them with creativity that also allow us to bond over distance. As such, I came up with an idea for us to build a birdhouse. Inspired by the song "Birdhouse In Your Soul" by They Might Be Giants, a song I chose for our song of the day, this project will allow students to flex their creativity, learn some new skills they might not have, and do something outside our comfort zone. Building a Birdhouse, for the birds and for our souls will be an excellent way for us to come together as a group. It will even count as part of their graduation requirements. So, please help us put a birdhouse in your soul!
