  • Digital Manuals for Aircraft Maintenance

    Funded Sep 4, 2022

Seeing eight of the friends who graduated the program in the spring be hire full time by Embraer Aircraft Corporation and two going to Blue Origin inspires them to work hard. Also, fourteen of their friends starting Engineering School and two accepted in FAA A&P programs. There is a bright future ahead for these students as Aerospace/Aircraft workers. The need is increasing over the next several years, it's a race to get students ready for the future with the skills that the industry needs. Now with the increase in technology the most desired skills include problem solving, work relations and work ethics (soft skills). It is no longer enough to be the best technician, now you need to be a great team member. These are the things included in the program in Melbourne Florida at Eau Gallie High School in the heart of the growing Aerospace/Aircraft on the Space coast. After a year that has seen the second pieces of NASA flight hardware made by the students go into space to the International Space Station.”

EGHS completes the first set of wheels for the NASA Moon Mining machine. These are the test article set NASA will put on the machine to dig and find out if there is any problems in design or function. Next year the students will build the Like Flight wheel and the Flight Hardware wheels the NASA will lunch to dig on the Moon scheduled in 2024. The experience the students are getting in the engineering process by taking a product from a drawing, to prototype, to test article, to like flight hardware, to Flight Hardware the launches to the Moon, can not overstated or created in a Classroom/lab environment.”

In this hands-on aviation environment students use the computer tablets on the aircraft projects with the publications installed. This allows them to have everything they need to work on a aircraft right there on the job. Students use the Micro SD cards to allow them to put all the aircraft manuals and publications in the Tablets. In the hanger learning environment movable folding chairs work best as we move from aircraft to aircraft. Up to 24 students will be taking turns working on aircraft and moving to table projects constantly.
