Warm Uniforms for School Success
Funded Mar 8, 2024Our students are delighted to have received new school uniforms! Student's comments ranged from, "Oh wow! Para mi (for me)?" to, "So beautiful and fuzzy warm!" Families too, are so grateful for your generosity. Families have responded with sincere feelings of thankfulness telling us, "Thank you for helping my child be able to go to school and learn."
These uniforms have and will continue to support students and their families who struggle to provide new, clean uniforms every day. Students are able to attend school regularly, and be warm and dressed within the school dress code requirements and feel proud of their clothing.
We are all truly grateful for your support and generosity!”

Warm Coats for Everjyone
Funded Dec 4, 2023My students and their families are so grateful for your generosity that has provided warm coats for chilly cold winter days. Having a new warm coat is like getting an extra hug each time they zip it up!
My students delight in showing their friends their new coats and I am truly grateful that they are warm and healthy when they walk to and from school and play outside on the playground. We are working on self help skills such as putting our coats on and taking them off, as well as learning how to zip and snap them closed so we can keep nice and warm.”

Healthy Minds
Funded Sep 11, 2023We are so grateful for your generosity. My students have enjoyed using these new materials to help them identify their emotions and build healthy minds.
Students have used Lego people to pretend to resolve conflicts and practice identifying emotions. I have planned lessons such as drawing how you feel when looking at yourself in a mirror, retelling a story about conflict resolution using lego people and additional legos. Additionally, students use the breathing mazes to regulate their breath at nap time helping them to rest and relax and build a healthy mind.
These materials allow children to embrace their differing abilities, culture, diversity, and family structure while finding commonalities and building a classroom community.”

Funded Apr 3, 2023My students are so grateful for your generosity in bringing classic literature to our classroom.
Students are so excited about reading the new books. Every day students listen to a new book at story time. I plan lessons inviting students to think critically about the story they have heard as they are encouraged to write, draw, and retell the story.
One of our recent favorite books is The Three Bears. Students responded to the question, what would you do if you were Goldilocks, or the Bears? Students enjoyed listening to this story over and over and were able to picture read the book to one another. Your generosity has sparked a classroom of engaged pre-readers and eager young learners.”

Funded Jan 10, 2023My student's couldn't stop talking about the "new toys" that appeared at their sand and water tables. They are so engaged with the new materials; it is such a wonderful teaching opportunity to connect their predictions and experiments with the outcomes they observe and discover. One student was using the new squeeze tube to move water from one bucket to another. He excitedly described to a friend, "Look you put it (the squeeze tube) here and fill it up and then (he demonstrated squeezing out the water) it goes over there! " Another group of students at the sand table experimented with the sand wheels discovering what made them turn faster or slower.
We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this hands on learning possible!”

Funded Oct 18, 2022My students and I are so grateful for your kindness. When my students saw all the wonderful new materials, they were so excited to use them and begin exploring concepts of inclusion and diversity in their play.
My students have been sparked to learn about differences and similarities between themselves and their families, and to begin building a classroom community that embraces inclusion and diversity.
Thank you for helping to build a generation of kind, compassionate and inclusive individuals.”

Funded Nov 15, 2021My students and I are so grateful for your donation. Our new TEGU blocks are a classroom favorite. My students are exploring magnetism, building, geometry, and engineering. When the students first saw the materials they were so surprised that they "stick together". There were exclamations of "look" and "mira" (Spanish) followed by giggles as they discovered the magnetic properties of polar attraction.
Currently the students are fascinated with the wheels and are using them to build a variety of vehicles. Sometimes there are only two wheels in a wheelbarrow type construction, and other times the students are combining many wheels with various planks and shapes to build 'rockets, cars, and trucks".
One of the exciting outcomes of having students work with such open-ended materials are the many opportunities for collaboration. Students are trying different ideas as they engineer their blocks and then sharing their predictions and conclusions with their friends. I hope to build on these collaborations as I scaffold student learning, inviting them to work together to solve simple problems using the TEGU blocks.”

Funded Dec 27, 2020I am so very grateful for your generosity. My students are still learning virtually so they have not yet had the chance to try these amazing resources in person. I was, however able to schedule a Google Meet so they could watch as I opened all the boxes!
The students were so excited to see all the new legos. They made suggestions as I was building a balance scale. Students tested their ideas about balance and weight while I followed their initiatives. We all had fun exploring virtually.
I am planning lessons to incorporate STEM learning and encourage problem solving. We can't wait to be back to in-person learning and use our new materials together!”

Funded Nov 23, 2020I am so very grateful for your generosity. My students have been learning remotely for most of this school year and our yoga and mindfulness practices have helped us to find calmness, and stay active and connected with one another.
My students were delighted to see the new materials appear in our daily videos. They have been exploring yoga poses and creating a few of their own! We have incorporated a mindfulness practice into the start of our day, taking a moment to breathe and be aware of what is good and positive.
I am hopeful that we will return to in-person instruction soon where we can practice together. In the meantime, "Namaste".”

Funded Nov 12, 2020I write to you with such gratitude on behalf of myself and my students. We are so thrilled to have such a wonderful, diverse, and bilingual collection of new books!
My students are learning reading skills. They enjoy tracing their fingers over the print and asking, (in both English and Spanish) "what does this say?" as well as "reading" the story from the pictures. They delight in books with repetitive text and beautiful rich illustrations.
There is such a variety of books that everyone has a favorite. One student asks for "Where is the Green Sheep" to be read to her over and over. She is learning English and delights in hearing the story in Spanish and then again in English allowing her to practice her emerging skills by repeating the words and phrases she has learned.”
