  • Hands on Activities to Enhance Learning and Create Communicative Opportunities

    I have used the items from this project to provide opportunities for my students to engage in arts and crafts activities to go along with our themed units. The high-interest activities have really created an abundance of opportunities for my students to engage in meaningful communicative exchanges. The mesh pouches have allowed me to keep material organized for my students. The Playfoam Pluffle has allowed me to refresh some of our sensory bins. My students have really enjoyed making crafts with the foam stickers, paper plates, and cardstock.”

  • Learning to Communicate Through Play

    The items received for this project have already had a major impact for my students! My students are benefiting greatly from all of the opportunities to participate in hands on, play activities. The games, including the Learning Resources Ruff's House Teaching Tactile Set, the Melissa and Doug catch and Count Wooden Fishing Game, and the Hasbro Crocodile Dentist Game have kept my students engaged during sessions. It is helpful to have engaging materials, as I can easily follow their lead, and target goals during high interest activities. Having access to these items has meant SO much to us.”

  • Hands-on Learning Through Themed Activities for Speech Therapy

    I have used the items from this project to create yearlong themed hands on units for my students that include multiple sensory modality activities. My students have been having the best time with themed activities, such as ocean themed books, sensory bins, language companions, all with visual supports!

    The resources and materials cover all types of learners and include activities that are appropriate for my readers and non-readers, and verbal and non-oral multimodal communicators. My students are truly engaged, and I can spend more time with my students and less time planning, as most activities are grab and go! :)

  • Let's Support All Types of Communication!

    The items received for this project have already had a major impact for my students! Many of them rely on visual supports to either communicate or successfully participate in classroom activities. The color printer has made it possible to accomplish this, as I can create, personalize, and print the necessary materials in a timely manner. The colorful visuals, core boards, and activity mats have played an essential role in how my students communicate and participate in the classroom. Having materials in color has made my students more engaged and facilitated language in so many ways.

    The games, including the wooden "surprise box," Building Bugs, Diner Drop, and Honey Bee Tree are current favorites and always requested by my students. It is helpful to have engaging materials, as I can easily follow their lead, and target goals during high interest activities. Having access to these items has meant SO much to us.”
