Before my students will be allowed to build a truss bridge of their own several lessons must be mastered. First, a short research paper will be written on three different types of truss bridges. Second, they will pick one type of truss bridge and draw a scale model to be assembled with the balsa wood. Within this scale drawing, trigonometric ratios will also be incorporated. After these two units are covered, the students will work cooperatively with a peer and build an actual scale version of a REAL truss bridge within our county!
