Students will be able to connect to both of their teachers and each other virtually. They are so nervous about this school year and we want to do our best to create a comfortable as well as functional learning environment. I see first hand how essential a comfortable "classroom"/learning environment is in order to get students to not only get engaged by stay engaged. My co-teacher and I have had an extremely difficult time managing and navigating Google Classroom during distance learning. The school provided Chromebooks are not equipped to handle all of the things we need to accomplish for our students. All of our students really want to do well and we would like to give them a chance to succeed in every way possible. As I mentioned earlier three of my five classes contain a high percentage of special ed students who benefit from highly engaging, creative and interactive lesson plans. The new computers will endow us with the capability to play videos along with our Google presentations, play interactive review games, and play study music while students are working. We would also like the ability to split the screen in order to see our students while presenting. Our school uses multiple platforms to facilitate remote learning and it can be a daunting challenge to grade student work efficiently, especially when download capabilities are slow. It can take a few hours to grade one activity for a single class. We would also like to model the correct way to annotate a story, play a Kahoot review game, diagram sentences, and work collaboratively. The students need to be able to see how the applications function and be able to utilize all of the available features to maximize the potential learning.
