Method Book Madness
Funded Nov 22, 2021This project set up my students for great future success. Previously, our band program only had beginner-level books, and many of my high school students had been longing for a challenge for quite some time. This fundraiser provided them with that challenge, and they have LOVED it! The books will be in heavier use next year, but we quickly finished out the beginner level books and began reading in the new ones last week, so they are really looking forward to digging into the music more next year.”

Play It Louder for the People in the Back!
Funded Sep 23, 2021Thank you for your donations to yet another project of ours! This project was quickly funded, and it allowed our young percussion students to learn the melodic side of percussion at home. At school, we only had 2 large bell set options (one of which was my own personal instrument) and one small bell set with a case, so the only time the students got to get any practice reading notes was during the school day, which simply was not enough time. But with this project, we were able to get bell kits for all our our percussionists and a few extra for newcomers in the future! This project made such a difference, and it allowed one student in particular to SOAR in his musical growth this last year. This makes a difference. Thank you.”

Funded Jul 20, 2021Thank you for funding my "Musical Materials" project! This has allowed me to provide a few small but vital pieces of equipment to our many new band students this year! Some items went straight to use, like the bell kit mallets and the saxophone neck straps, but one or two items like the tambourine and other percussion instruments were put on hold until our Spring Concerts, which were a delightful success! Your contributions to our program have made such strong impacts, and I want to sincerely thank you for all that you have helped us to accomplish.”

Funded Aug 12, 2021Thank you for funding my project Living In Color! I ordered a different colored rolling cart by mistake, but I have gotten a ton of use out of it! My original plan was to store art supplies in it for my Fine Arts class in the Spring, but it was much more beneficial to store all of our small percussion instruments, mallets, and hardware in the cart. This has been so helpful for staying organized and keeping track of all of our equipment!
The printer has not yet been able to be connected to my laptop, but I know I will get much use out of it once that happens!”

Funded May 7, 2021Thank you all for funding these new clarinets!!! I see my students during the summer for rehearsals, and my top two clarinet players are so excited to begin playing these new instruments. The ones we've had until now are all very low-quality, so even if they work as best as possible, they still don't produce very great sounds, and the students often fight against the tendencies of the instrument. With these new clarinets, I let one of my students try one out last week, and he couldn't stop exclaiming over how much easier it was to play and how much more beautiful it sounded. Seeing my students excited makes me excited, and I am so grateful to all of you for bringing this joy to my students.”

Funded Dec 26, 2020Thank you so much for the two new flutes you provided for my band program!! They are beautiful, and they play so well. My students were very excited about them, and I am, too! We now have a total of 5 working flutes for our program, so we can start building this section up a lot more. I remember working with this program last year, and all of the flute students were fighting against their instruments, working so hard for progress that hardly manifested itself due to the low quality of their instruments. But now I see they are capable of so much, and they sound beautiful on these instruments. Thank you again so much for all that you have contributed to my program. I am excited to see how we continue to grow moving forward.”

Funded Nov 5, 2020Thank you so much for funding this project! I am so excited to have the extra equipment to complete these instruments. The saxophone neck has been put to great use because soon after we received the materials, one student's saxophone needed to be sent to the shop for repairs. He has been using a backup alto and this new neck ever since, and he loves how it plays! He takes his instrument home regularly to practice, and I always see him take great care of the things I loan out to him, like this other saxophone.
We have not yet had a chance to break out the mellophone mouthpieces because I ended up starting those few students who showed interest on trumpet. I am hoping that we can diversify our instrumentation with the horns next Fall, and perhaps even begin the transition from trumpet to mellophone during our Summer rehearsals.
Thank you all so much for your donations to support our program! I am excited to see how these items continue to benefit my students in the years to come!”

Funded Sep 16, 2020This project has completely changed my classroom dynamic. This flute went to a young 8th grader who had only ever played on poorly constructed or broken instruments. From the first moment he played it, he raved about how great it sounded and swore to take excellent care of it. This student takes his instrument home every day, and his hard work is beginning to shine throughout the ensemble. During our preparations for our Christmas concert, there was one section with a flute feature that he would struggle with every day, and on the day that he consistently played it correctly, the class excitedly shared their praises with him.
Yesterday, we held our first round of chair placement auditions, and this young beginner earned 2nd chair, right next to our only senior flute player. I am so proud of this young student's accomplishments, and I know that he could not have experienced these same levels of success without this beautiful and reliable new instrument that you all have so generously provided us with. Thank you so much for contributing to our band program and for supporting the larger goal of music education in this world.”
