Representation Matters!
Funded Aug 25, 2024My scholars absolutely enjoy reading. Whenever I inform them that it's independent reading time, they smile so big that it lights up my room even more. They run to the library with great enthusiasm and become lost in every book they pick up and read. They share their thoughts about the books, they giggle and smile to themselves while reading, and they even make self-to-text connections; infusing themselves and their culture while reading. I've had students say that reading used to bore them but because of the great selection they have, it has now been the highlight of their year. I thank each and every one of you for your donations.”

Reading with a Purpose
Funded Aug 25, 2024I am beyond grateful for your donation to gift my classroom with an amazing new library that represents each of my students in a variety of ways. My students beg me for independent reading time just so they can rush to the library and read all the books we have. They are able to make self to text connections and discuss how they connect with the books in the library. My students smile while reading, giggle, and even partner read. I love hearing, "I do this with my family" or "This reminds me of when..." I love their connections to the books in the room.
Not just my students benefit from the books but also the after school students who are placed in my classroom. I have parents that send me a message asking if they can have the name of the books I have so they can purchase for their personal home library.
These books are drawing my students closer to each other and allowing them to bravery talk about their culture, ethnicity, religion, hobbies, talents, and so much more. I am looking forward to having these books create more connections throughout the school year.”

Comfy Classroom Rug for My Learning Cubs :)
Funded Aug 15, 2023Thank you so very much for providing myself and my students with a beautiful carpet. From the day we received the carpet it has made learning engagement so much better. My students are able to sit comfortably through a lesson. The best part of the carpet is that it is sectioned for each child to have a box, giving them their own personal space to have privacy when completing their work.
Having this carpet has also given my children a great sense of responsibility. They take turns cleaning the carpet and preparing it for the next day. I also provide my students with a dance break and having the cushion of the carpet prevents a lot of slips and falls and lessens the chance of injury.
Having this carpet has benefited my lessons in the most powerful ways. My students sit in a huddle in a group and complete assignments together in a very relaxed and comfortable setting. I am forever grateful for your generous contribution.”

Funded Sep 28, 2022Through your gracious donations, my students were able to use the art supplies to take a step away from the normal routine of sitting at their desk while listening to the lessons to being able to be creative in their own uniqueness. Students were so thrilled and beyond happy when they first laid eyes on all materials. Their smiles were as bright as the sun and as wide as an ocean. Students were able to be very calm while painting. I played soft music and the students were little artist while painting their canvas.
Not only did students enjoy the art sessions, they were able to then take the canvas and gift them to family members, favorite teachers, friends, community workers, and various staff members. They are not only talented, but they are gracious givers.
My students told me to type the following to each of you... "Thank you for taking the time and money to think of us the way that you have. Your donation to our class created a memory we will NEVER forget. Thank you!!!"”

Capturing a Community with a Diverse Library!
Funded Aug 23, 2021The texts that you all so graciously donated to my class has improved my literacy lessons in so many ways. I am able to connect with the culture of my students and their families. The diverse texts in my library is ensuring that my students feel seen and included in all activities. One of the books donated, Name Jar; I was able to have my students think about their identity in a way that they never have before. My students were able to ask and find out how they got their name. The excitement and joy the students shared when presenting was amazing. It also allowed them to find out more about their culture and family.
Reading in my classroom is 50 minutes a day. I teach a mini lesson of a new reading skill which takes about 10-15 minutes. I model the skill and have students actively engaged with me before I send them off to read independently. During independent reading, I pull small groups for guided reading as well as reading one on one with students. All of my students love going to the library to exchange their books.”

Art and Sensory Supplies
Funded Mar 20, 2021I can not thank you all enough for your amazing contributions to my students. With your donations, I was able to give my students an opportunity to make Mother's Day projects. My students were able to use the paint and canvas' to design the most incredible paintings for their mom/grandma. They were so creative and absolutely loved having the opportunity to escape from school work to have some art fun. Not only did you provide art supplies to my amazing students, but you also provided comfortable seating tables for them to be able to join me in the meeting area and do their work comfortably. Before getting my project funded, it was hard having the students join me in the meeting area and not have something to lean on to write. Due to the students having to be 6 feet a part, it was difficult for them all to see the smart board, so having them join me in the meeting area became easy once they had their writing tables. When my student first saw their art supplies, they jumped for joy and have been jumping for joy ever since. Because of your generosity, I am able to use the art supplies for Father's Day project and an end of the year art party. Thank you all so much!”

Capturing A Community With Diverse Books
Funded Sep 16, 2020I am so humbly grateful for the donations you all have contributed to my classroom library. The students have expressed how happy they are to read books that include characters that look like them, experience problems that they have, and books that they can relate to that shows their culture, religion, and ethnicity.
My students light up when I choose a different book each day for a read aloud. I have so many reading choices, that there are days I am able to read sometimes 2 books a day. My students become so excited when they can open up the books and connect with the characters.
I want so bad to tell you what's a favorite book but truth be told, each book is a favorite to the students for so many reasons. Recently, we celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month and it was such an incredible feeling to have books in my classroom library that exposed such greatness about this celebration and every celebration to come.”
