Data recorded during my online social skills sessions from March 2020 to December 2020 –excluding the summer break –and parents’ interviews indicate the following: • 64 % of the students heavily rely on their parents’ presence and support to remain on task during on-line learning. • 75% of parents report a high level of stress regarding their children noncompliance with the online instruction, ignoring teacher and parent directions no matter how many times they are reminded, becoming oppositional and argue back regularly, having tantrums and meltdown when they are asked to do something they are not keen to do. • Behavior interventions that I recommend for the home setting are mostly not effective because the parents have never received any training about establishing instructional control in the home setting, setting and utilizing a home routine, providing prompts, rewards, and encouragements, recording behavior data, and implementing basic behavior intervention strategies such as reinforcement and extinction. In conclusion, my hope is to help every one of my students being successful with online learning by providing training to my students’ parents.
