With a Surface laptop, children in physical therapy service could learn through video taping themselves and using this as a visual feedback tool to self correct their mistakes. Being able to self correct enhances their motor planning skills to safely navigate the school environment. For example, to improve proper sitting posture in a wheelchair or improve their gait while walking in their school environment. My students will be able to use the video feature and playback to look for mistakes. In return, the students can learn to self correct while using video and further watch his/her progress along the way. Additionally, I will be able to provide seamless teletherapy service for those students that will be participating in remote learning. Examples of programs/apps that will be used during therapy sessions are: Google Meet, PowerPoint, multiple website browsers for movement videos and/or exercise pictures, and zoom. Independent learning fosters a higher self-esteem, which in turn promotes a positive attitude about learning and school. A donation of a Surface Book laptop with free apps/programs would go a long way to improve gross motor function and technology skills for my students. This laptop will also enable teletherapy sessions to run smoothly, without glitches, and improve participation and communication with my students and their families.
