The AOBI is a Vocational Trade Charter High School that serves students from a large rural area that have either become disillusioned with public education, had environmental issues causing them to become behind in credits, adjudicated youth, foster kids, girls from local girls group home, and students needing “hands on training,” who are not university bound.
Students attending AOBI have electives like: Blacksmithing, Welding, Metal Fab, CADD, Drone Pilot, Auto Shop/Drag Racing, Carpentry/Furniture Making, Basic Engineering, Greenhouse Growing, Office Skills, and they run their own Lunch Program as a student run business, where they learn retail sales, cooking, and business skills.
Students not only graduate with a High School Diploma, but have the option of graduating with a Two Year Certificate in the trade they choose.
Our students are ready to enter the workplace, or continue their education with Vocational College. We partner with our local Community College, through the WAVE Program, which allows dual enrollment, and our School not only adjusts their schedule to accommodate College Classes, but we provide transportation as well!
We are introducing a course in Drone Safety and Flying this School Year with this new drone.
This course requires planning for the overall safety of the mission, with contingency plans for malfunctions and other difficulties, such as a loss of link, or weather issues, among other things.
Since the safety side can be readily taught with “in Classroom Training” or “On-line Training” the students can begin this training without actually flying a Drone. However, this training is only the beginning of the requirements, as actual Drone Flying is needed to fulfill the mission.
