A Joyful Christmas
Funded Sep 22, 2022Our pre-k3 students learned reading skills with the books that were donated. The students were engaged and got to make connections with the Christmas story. Each student got the opportunity to practice the parts of the book, pre-reading skills, and higher-order thinking.
Each student learned what the front of the cover of the book is and what is the back part of the book; as well as pages, Title, author, and illustrator. The students learned all the pre-reading skills; for example, the starting point of reading left to right. The students also demonstrated comprehension skills and the sequence of events of the story. We also integrated technology while the student moved pictures of the correct sequence of events.
We are so grateful for our best Christmas storybook. We were able to do a lot of reading in the classroom with our new Christmas book. We read in the morning, afternoon, and before we leave.”
With gratitude,

Funded Jan 10, 2022The interactive calendars and the number of the day charts have worked wonders. First of all it has provided such a positive environment for our pk 3 students. Secondly it gives them the visuals and interactive options for our preschoolers to explore and make connections to our outside world.
Our little ones were super excited when our materials arrived and where put up for them to use daily in a routine manner.
Environmental print is the first print a child recognizes as literacy awareness; it offers children the opportunity to understand and make connections to the real world and start feeling a success in reading in an early age.
"Our lesson will be making a chart with sections labeled: picture, letter, word and numbers. I will provide a basket of pictures, letters, words and numbers. Children will then provide appropriate categories (circle manual)."”
With gratitude,
Ms. Hinojosa
