A great classroom library can be the heart of a classroom. A good book can help a child feel safe, answer questions, make connections, and challenge their ideas. Students should easily find books with characters that look like them and feel like them. Students should also just as easily find a book with characters very different from themselves. I have a good class library but with your help, I can make it great! Adding books with characters from different countries, economic backgrounds, races, and gender identities my students will be able to listen to and read stories that they can identify with or open their minds to a whole new world. Students will listen to read aloud in class. They will also be able to borrow a book to read with someone at home.
