I believe books can spark discussion and alter perspectives. This year it is more important than ever before to provide time each day where students' voices are heard and we can process topics together. All of the unexpected change and isolation from quarantine has left many students dysregulated and withdrawn. There are two goals within this project that I believe will empower and educate my students. My first goal is to give my students a wider perspective by hearing from diverse voices in our read alouds. We will work together to build tools, compassion, and confidence to be allies and stand against racism. My second goal is to teach social-emotional awareness through our read alouds. This will increase students' ability to self regulate, use a growth mindset, add to their coping skills, and teach how to resolve conflicts. Thank you for partnering with me to empower and educate the next generation to be inclusive, compassionate, and emotionally healthy humans.
