Teaching & Technology: Learning is Fun!
Funded Dec 4, 2023I am so grateful for the support of our donors in making this classroom project a success! Our students are enjoying the new IPads and headphones you donated to support their learning in school. They are able to use the Ipads to access educational apps and other student friendly tools which will improve their literacy skills. The impact of having the Ipads and headphones has been awesome as students are more motivated to learn and try different strategies to improve their literacy skills.
Our beloved elementary school encourages students to demonstrate the core values of perseverance, responsibility, integrity, discovery and empathy (i.e. P.R.I.D.E) in themselves and their community. We are very appreciative of your wonderful donations in helping our scholars develop 21st century skills through the use of technology.
It is donors like you who are the real unsung heroes of public education. Again, many thanks for helping us to enrich the lives of our scholars!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Whitehorne

Funded Feb 8, 2023Thank you for your donation that supported our scholars in getting a small group reading table for our classroom. We have been using the table for several months now and we have experienced many wonderful opportunities to engage in learning in our small groups at the table. One special moment that comes to mind because of the table is when I needed to record a lesson for our grade level team to observe a lesson. I received lots of comments about the wonderful pacing of the lesson and students being very engaged in the lesson. I believe having the appropriate furniture makes it easier to teach lessons (e.g. spacing of students' seats, distribution of materials, teacher-student interactions).
When the table first arrived, our students were very excited and they asked lots of questions. I was also excited for them because I've been teaching for many years and know the importance of having a great set up in the classroom to enhance student learning. I am grateful that my students were able to enjoy our time of learning at this table as it provided the space they needed as young learners.
One of the next steps for our scholars is to become fluent readers. It would be very helpful if we could get additional reading materials, such as developmentally appropriate and culturally relevant books for our scholars who are multilingual, as many of them are learning English as a second language. I want our students to have many opportunities to experience the joy of reading and learning that reflects a wide range of narratives through different books. Some of our students are reading below grade level and I believe that providing interesting books that speak to their daily lives will inspire them to work hard at improving their reading fluency and demonstrating greater academic growth.
Thank you for your contributions which have enhanced the lives of our students!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Whitehorne
