We are building a coffee shop that our students can take pride in setting up, running, and supporting. We are starting small by creating a coffee cart that will be supported by our students in the adult transition programs. Students will learn a multitude of work-ready soft skills and specific skill sets. This exciting endeavor will span from the classrooms to our central coffee shop location and will engage over 40 students while providing meaningful and generalizable work-based learning experiences. Students across the district will play a role in the success and feel ownership and camaraderie. Some students will build the menus, the Google forms for ordering, some will take inventory, some will stock, face shelves, and shop for supplies. Some will practice his/her barista skills. All of this will occur with the support of our wonderful transition teachers, gen ed. teachers, administrators, staff, our WorkAbility team, and families. Workforce inclusion! Workability!
