Kindergarteners Can Do Virtually Anything!
Funded Oct 21, 2020Having the extra monitor, document camera, and webcam has been amazing. In person, everything has to be laid out step by step. Virtually, EVERYTHING has to be laid out step by step plus it has to be visual, plus the kids have to see/hear me and what I'm showing them, plus I need to be able to see them, and they need to see and learn from each other. Having one, old, tired computer screen wasn't going to cut it.
Every direction, skill, concept, has to be put on a slide for kids to see, hear, engage with. Slides need to be inviting, interesting, engaging. Students need to understand the "why," and be able to show and explain that understanding. With the extra monitor and/or document camera, I can watch what kids are doing, see what kids are seeing (me), and show a model - all at the same time. I can answer questions, guide someone having challenges with scissors, or read a story. The best pieces of all this technology is that students can build meaningful relationships with each other, can actively learn, and can interact with stories, music and movement whenever they want to. Our learning is much richer than we ever thought it would be!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Grady
