• Cultivating Bilingual Readers

  Thank you so much for helping fund a complete set of Pocho and helping us complete our classroom set Stargirl. Having a classroom set of books allows for students to sit in flexible seating around the classroom during reading time. There's students who like to sit on our mats in the calm corner surrounded by pillows, others prefer to sit in large chairs across the room, at their desk, or even on the floor. It also allows for students to take books home to review or stay up to date with their classmates when they're absent.

  With the books, our students are able to learn and review vocabulary, study various writing styles, practice making inferences, and engage in valuable discussions about the text. Through student engagement and discussions, I can see that they are particularly fond of Pocho. I've had students mention that they can relate to Danny's experiences and find this book relatable.”

• Empowering Bilingual Readers Through Diverse Literature!

  Thank you for donating to buy a classroom set of Esperanza Rising and The House on Mango Street in Spanish. My students love being able to grab their individual copies and move around the room. Having their individual copies allows them to sit at our calm corner surrounded by pillows and at our larger chairs in a little corner of our class.

  Through our texts, students have been able to learn new vocabulary, practice their comprehension skills, and often engage in conversations about the text. They always ask if we'll have time to read and eagerly pass out their books to each other. My favorite part of reading time is hearing their reactions to the actions of the characters. There's one particular student who is rooting for Esperanza to end up with Miguel. She calls Miguel "a green flag". Seeing my students get excited about reading makes your donations all the more meaningful.”

• Help Our Kids Stay Organized With Interactive Notebooks!

  Your donations to help buy my students interactive notebooks, pencils, and glue sticks are greatly appreciated. The notebooks are used almost every day for their warm-ups, quick writes, notes, and even to glue in important work sheets that they'll have to look back on.

  Upon receiving the packages, my students were extremely excited to see their supplies. They instantly asked for an unboxing and wanted to get started personalizing their notebooks. We will continue using our notebooks almost everyday to engage in learning through writing. We have already gone through many boxes of pencils and still have some to make it through the rest of the year. Thank you again for your contribution to our classroom.”

• Brighten Our Learning With a Printer!

  Your contributions to help us buy our classroom printer have created much ease and facilitated many classroom activities. Having a printer has allowed my students to print text and images for presentations, not just for our class but for others as well. It has also allowed for me to easily reprint assignments that students have misplaced. Although I always print extras, there are times where many students will misplace an assignment and I will only need one or two more sheets. Before, I would have to ask other teachers or staff for support during class time but now I am able to save much time by easily printing in our class. Overall having a printer has created much joy and ease in our class.”

• Brighten Up Our World With Ink!

  Your contribution to the learning of my students is extremely appreciated. Thanks to your donation my students have been able to participate in engaging activities in small groups where they discuss images. Without color ink these images are hard to see clearly and cause confusion during discussions.

  Although I love being able to print assignments for my students and having the ability to quickly print reports, my students enjoy the printer for other reasons. The most exciting thing about having color ink for my students has been being able to print for their projects. Most students don't have access to printers outside of school and the public library. They've been sending me images and paragraphs that they need to print not just for my class but for other classes as well. They've mentioned that it's made it easier to get assignments, poster projects in particular, done because they don't have to go out of their way to find a printer they're allowed to use.”
