  • Calming Area

    Funded Nov 3, 2023

The impact of the project funded by the generous donors, providing tools for a calming corner like tools for breathing exercises, fidgets, a weighted stuffed animal, and many more has been profound in creating a nurturing and supportive classroom environment. In a recent project, students learned about emotional regulation and mindfulness. They utilized the calming corner to practice breathing exercises, promoting self-awareness and resilience. It was heartening to see them embrace these tools, fostering a sense of calm and focus amidst the challenges of their academic journey.

When the students first encountered the calming corner materials, there was an immediate sense of curiosity and relief. The soothing effect of the bean bag and weighted stuffed animal, combined with the engaging fidgets, provided a tangible source of comfort. The classroom atmosphere transformed into a space where emotional well-being was prioritized, creating a positive impact on both individual and collective learning experiences.

Looking ahead, the next steps involve integrating these resources into our ongoing social-emotional learning curriculum. Students will continue to explore mindfulness practices, and the calming corner will be an essential element in promoting emotional intelligence and stress management. The ongoing support from our donors ensures that these vital tools remain accessible, contributing to the overall well-being and success of our students.”

  • Stem in a Bag

    Funded Oct 7, 2023

Thanks to your generous support, the impact on my students has been nothing short of transformative. The STEM toys, including manipulatives, building blocks, and Legos, have opened up a world of interactive learning experiences. In one particular project, students collaborated to build a miniature city using the building blocks, integrating principles of architecture and urban planning. Witnessing their enthusiasm and creativity flourish as they constructed bridges, skyscrapers, and imaginative structures was truly inspiring.

When the students first laid eyes on the new materials, their faces lit up with excitement and curiosity. The tangible joy and eagerness to explore and create were palpable. The STEM toys not only provided a fun outlet but also became powerful tools for hands-on learning. Seeing the impact firsthand, I am deeply grateful to the donors for making this enriching experience possible.

As we look ahead, the next steps involve incorporating these resources into our ongoing lessons and projects. Currently, the students are working on a science experiment where they use the manipulatives to build models that illustrate scientific concepts. This hands-on approach enhances their understanding and retention of complex topics, fostering a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom. The continued support of our donors ensures that these valuable learning opportunities remain a consistent part of our curriculum, shaping the future of these young minds.”

Our school uses online programs for Math and ELA that help with differentiation. This allows me to do small group instruction because I know the other students in the classroom are working on various skills on their devices. Headphones will also keep students engaged and accountable to their learning. We use iPads and computers to access different learning sites, these headphones will help my students target different learning skills with less distraction. These much needed headphones will dramatically increase our learning and productivity! Each student should be able to clearly and accurately listen to what their device has in store for them.
