Scholastic magazines provide students with exposure to many different aspects of literacy in a way that keeps them engaged. In these magazines the students will learn about text features and structures. They will also use these in small groups as a close reading piece that will help them dig deeper and understand what they are reading in different ways. These magazines also help by exposing students to new ideas and new vocabulary. The articles in the magazines give students meaningful topics for class discussion that they can often times relate to. It also opens the door for many writing options. It is so important that students use texts to write, and that they learn to refer to texts when providing evidence in their own writing and conversations.
