These materials will give my students the opportunities to be creative in our project based learning environment. I am in the early years of a teaching career and have already seen the change in effort from my students when they are able to express their learning in a creative environment (in their own way) versus giving worksheets. It was amazing to see the products I received in my last project because I discovered artists! I also heard from parents what they internalized from our book because of project based learning. It is amazing what students can do when given the chance to choose how they show their knowledge. I will use the dry erase pockets for students to annotate articles, prose, poetry, and student work. The dice will be used in activities such as Describe-Draw-Act. I will use the writing prompt cubes for fun writing activities that do not feel like a chore. My main goal for all of these supplies is to make learning fun. I want to make learning worthwhile and long-lasting. The books I have chosen will give my students some more books in their classroom library. I want to give my students a variety of books from a variety of authors. I also want my students to be able to acknowledge and talk about realities outside of the classroom such as "The Hate U Give". I want to create a classroom community that not only acknowledges differences, but embraces differences!
