  • I Am Somebody

    Funded Nov 16, 2022

I am going to start off by saying Thank You on behalf of my students. Every supply no matter how big or small , we are using them on a daily. When I arrived with the supplies (especially the pencils) they were like OMG!!! So many pencils, are those for us? I explained to them that yes they are. The notebooks that were donated we use those for all content areas by using them as interactive notebooks. They will go home with them at the end of the year to use as a tool to help prepare them for the SOLs, a huge test that is administered at the end of each year in certain grade levels.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hardy

  • Hardy's Huddle

    Funded Dec 2, 2020

First let me say thank you for contributing to my virtual classroom. With the supplies that were donated I was able to make biweekly trips to homes to visit the students and drop off things that they mentioned they needed. Parents were extremely grateful. The impact of COVID definitely took a tole on this group of kids so to see their teacher arrive at their homes with little goodies lightened up their day just a little bit. The board games will forever be used in my class as long as all pieces are there.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hardy

The book Warriors Don't Cry is a text that will give students a better understanding of where their culture has come from and where it is headed. It will help students become more appreciative of the opportunities they are given and realize they cannot take them for granted. A lot of books are about things that my students cannot relate to so their attention tends to stray. Our classroom has a competitive vibe, but you compete against yourself. So when the work of the day is done, having games to play is a good way to unwind.
