  • Let There Be Light (covers)!

    Funded Jan 28, 2024

We are full of thankfulness. Thank you for everybody who donated, shared, liked and participated in this project. We appreciate your time and generosity and I know I’m so excited to share this news with my students.

It’s people like you who help teachers feel supported and appreciated. We keep going because of you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hart

  • Fidget, Freedom, Flexible Seating

    Funded Mar 18, 2021

Here we are, starting another year of the pandemic and teaching. Students are still in single desks spaced out and required to be masked all day. The wobble stools and cushions help students move in their own space when they are not allowed to get up and move around the classroom environment. This is a huge help to students learning because it allows a built in safe space to move. This decreases behaviors and helps students focus more on academics.

When students first got these stools last year they were so happy to finally not sit in a hard chair all day. Fourth graders I have this year are also benefiting from this project. When they entered the classroom they were so excited about all the alternative seating options. Students are proud to be in this classroom and share this news with parents and friends from other classrooms. They feel ownership over making decisions that help them focus, when so many rules are being enforced on them right now.

In the future, I continue to have more options for seating in my classroom. I would love to see options for all 22 of my students. Currently resources are shared and rotated weekly. Thank you for all your support from the bottom of my heart.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hart

These fourth graders are asked to stay in their seats and in their designated space all day. With your help, these wiggle seats, and wobble stools will support students with opportunities to move while staying safely in their space. Movement helps students increase their attention, and then will benefit their learning outcomes. Imagine all the regulations and rules these young children are expected to follow this year. Students will gain a freedom with these seating options in a self contained special education classroom. These new seating options give students tools to self regulate in a classroom that demands a lot from them right now.
