  • Barbells For Weightlifting Team

    Funded Jul 20, 2023

The boys weightlifting team were so excited when they were able to open the new boxes of barbells. It was like Christmas. They couldn't believe we finally got some new ones. I hope that moment is something that they will remember when they become adults and are able to give back to help make an impact on the world.

The new barbells are going to help us train properly. The lifters will now know how it feels to us a barbell that spins nicely and has great knurling. Last, season they struggled at meets hitting lifts because the feel of the barbell was so different than our old ones.

We are training hard to win Districts this year and have more lifters qualify for States. This is only possible because of you. Thank you so much!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Coach Creel

  • Bumpers for Barbells

    Funded Oct 18, 2023

We can not thank you all enough for being so generous to our team. Our girls team has grown from about 6 lifters to about 25. Ours boys team is predicted to grow from 20 to 40 lifters. We would not be able to grow our teams without having the proper equipment. Your donation not only helps our athletes now, but it helps them grow a love for lifting and living a healthy lifestyle into adulthood. Thank you so much!!!!”

  • The Importance of Muscle Recovery in Training

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Your donation of foam rollers and Ab mats helped our athletes recover and learn how important recovery is in working out and competing. We had competitions every week where lifters are pushing their body every meet to get a new PR and win. Rolling out and stretching helped us have a very successful season. We had 7 kids place at Districts and sent 7 to compete in Regionals. One athlete even made it to State for the first time and placed 8th. We could not have had the success we did without being able to properly recover.

At first my athletes complained because it hurt to foam roll but then as they did it more they would come in asking to foam roll. The faster an athlete can recovery the faster they can train hard again the next session.

Thank you all for all the support! I hope as my athletes become young adults they will remember the impact of people donating to them even without knowing them and they will do the same!”

  • Barbells for Girls Olympic Weightlifing

    Funded Oct 14, 2022

If you know anything about weightlifting it's how important a good barbell is. Without a barbell we can not perform the Olympic lifts in which we compete in. Not only is a good barbell important but having the proper barbell makes it even better. Females use a barbell that is lighter and smaller to help with grip. When I created this Donors Choose we only had 2 proper barbells for a team of girls. Thanks to your donation we now have a total of 7 proper barbells for our lifters to train and compete with.

When I received the package the girls could not believe we got brand new barbells. They were so excited. In fact when we start practice they all race over to be the first ones at practice just so they can use one of the new barbells. they even wanted to put their names on them.

Thanks to your donation our girls were able to have a great first season lifting as they were all new to lifting. We even had one girl place 3rd and Districts and qualify for Regionals. We could not have done all of this without the support from you! We will continue to use these barbells for years to come. Again, thank you!!!”

  • Lifting For Gold

    Funded Sep 9, 2022

Our girls weightlifting team was able to train all of our athletes at once with the help of your donation. Our season ended with all of our girls getting a lot stronger but also gaining a lot of self esteem that will help them take on the next chapter in life.

My athletes could not believe we got all this new equipment. The barbell was a hit! What they really couldn't believe though was that people like you donated to make it happen even without knowing them. That is something I hope they will remember as they grow into adults and one day can give back to make an impact on someones lives.

Because of your donation we will be able to continue to use the collars, bumpers, belts, clock and barbell for years to come. Your donation does not end with this group of girls but with many more to come after them. All of the returning lifter are excited to continue to train and become better lifters with their eyes on States. Without this equipment that might not have been the case. So again thank you for making an impact on my current group of athletes and the future generations to come after them.”

  • Diving Into Volleyball

    Funded Mar 18, 2022

The new volleyballs are the best ones our kids have had! At our school the students really love playing volleyball! Before we got these nice new ones they were playing with old torn volleyballs.

When I pumped up the new volleyballs and brought them out to class the kids were so excited! They kept saying thank you and how nice they were. When I told them we were able to get them from people donating to our classroom they could not believe it. I love letting my kids know when we get new donations through Donors Choose that not only did some of my friends and family donate but also people we don't even know. I hope that they will remember what an impact someone they didn't even know made on thier learning and they continue to as you all did for them.

The volleyballs in year one made an impact on about 1200 students and they will continue to impact many more to come each school year!

I can not thank you all enough for making an impact on my kids!”

  • We're Playing Basketball...

    Funded Apr 26, 2022

The donation you made to our project helped us get four new indoor basketballs, training pinnies and cones for our girls and boys basketball team. We got two girl and two boy balls. We were also, able to get new training pinnies that will help when we are doing scrimages. Now the kids will easily be able to tell who is on what team.

We do not start basketball season until January but when we recieved the package I showed some of our kids our new equipment and they were all super excited. New and improved equipment really makes our students feel special.

Our basketball teams are going to train hard to show how much they appreciate your kind donation.

Again, we couldn't do the things we do without your support!”

  • Help Me Teach the Next Serena Williams With These Nets!

    Funded Aug 22, 2021

With your generous donations my students have experienced sports that they wouldn't have been able to without the nets. It's one thing to teach about tennis or badminton but it's another to be able to actually play the sport and learn while being engaged.

I teach 8th graders and when they came to class and saw all the nets up they knew they were new because they didn't use them last year. When I told them people donated money to help us get them they couldn't believe we had people like you from around the world willing to donate to them.

Seeing the nets up also helped them be open-minded to playing badminton, tennis and pickleball. We were able to not only practice our skills for the different racket sports but also had a tournament each class period and the students were so engaged!

The nets helped me teach four different sports this semester and I can not thank you enough!

You all are making an impact on my students and I am forever grateful for you!”

  • Spinning Towards Fitness

    Funded Dec 2, 2020

Firstly, I want to say thank you! Anytime I have the bikes out my students absolutely love being on them! Even when they are not out I have students asking if they can bring them out. :) The bikes have kept kids active that have been injured and otherwise wouldn't have been for class. They have also, opened my kids up to actually being able to enjoy building cardiorespiratory endurance.

I would like to have my students track their progress on the bikes over a time period. This will help motivate them to continue to improve. With the numbers they keep track of maybe we could even team up with their math class to use their actually log and performance to help engage them to real scenarios while using math.

You all have brought a huge smile to my students as well as help them improve their fitness journey!

Thank you so much from your College Park Bulldogs!”

These stationary bikes well help my students improve their fitness. These bikes will help my students who are overweight or who are recovering from injuries. They will also, help my students have more options for cardio workouts as well as help promote lifelong fitness. According to the CDC, obesity affected about 13.7 million children and adolescents last year. Children 12 to 19 years old made up 20.6% of that. Also, obesity is at a higher percentage for the lower socioeconomic class. Some of my kids have never been on a stationary bike before. These stationary bikes will help them become more open minded to working out. I want fitness to be a fun journey for all of my students!
