This year is going to be like no other for my students. They will be unmuting, screen sharing, double-clicking, and all-out tele-therapying their way to better communication. I'm striving to make the shift to virtual therapy as engaging and motivating as possible for them. Many of the materials that I would use in-person to help my students succeed will not be available. This means I need to build a new virtual intervention kit. With a combination of Nearpod, Brainpop, and a gift card for resources from Teachers Pay Teachers, I will be able to create multilingual and interactive teletherapy lessons to meet my students' unique needs. Using Nearpod, I will be able to create interactive skill lessons that incorporate videos, images, and games to capture my students' interests and scaffold their learning. Nearpod will also allow me to collect important student data for intervention. With Brainpop in Spanish, I will be able to select specific videos for my bilingual students that align with their therapy and educational goals. On Teachers Pay Teachers, I can draw from a variety of digital resources in English and Spanish to support my diverse caseload in learning specific skills: making inferences, building vocabulary, improving sentence structure, or developing better speech articulation and fluency. These resources will allow me to create and choose materials flexibly to best serve each student based on their individual needs.
