One challenge that I have as physical education teacher is to find sports or activities that all physical ability levels can enjoy. A common feature that I have noticed from my experience is that when students participate in the mainstream American sports such as football, basketball, and baseball, there tends to be a great divide among the students. Although these are fun sports to play, participation in them makes it easy to spot the students who are more physically gifted than others. This characteristic can cause those type of students to get frustrated with their peers who aren't on their level; which in turn, they take out some of their frustration on their classmates through negative comments, not passing them the ball, etc. Their participation in the sport of tchoukball will help limit these issues in the class. From my research, tchoukball seems to be a great sport for these students to participate in since it will teach them important concepts such as cooperation, teamwork, strategy, and social behavior. It also seems that this sport positively enforces all students to play because every player is vital to achieve success.
