Mic Check
Funded Jul 19, 2021Having a microphone in the classroom changes how I deliver my instruction, it is an amazing tool. It also saves my voice from being used all day. My students can hear me loudly and clearly and this year it is more important than ever. Due to the pandemic, I have to wear masks this year and this microphone allows my kids to hear me through the mask. My students do not have an issue hearing me and they love the microphone. My students find it very helpful because my voice can be heard where ever they are sitting.
The iPad stand is another useful tool that I am able to use because of your generosity! I use it for my IPad while I am planning my lessons and if I need to ever teach on ZOOM again it will be incredibly useful .My students and I are so thankful for the technology in my classroom.”

Funded May 5, 2021The timing of this funded project was amazing. My students received these books right when we transitioned from "online learning" to hybrid. This means that students who chose to come in person had access to these brand new books! Every single morning the kids came in and silently read for 15 minutes. I was very encouraged by how interested and engaged they were with their books,
The students were also very excited to "unbox" their new books for their library. It was like Christmas for them! They expressed how they'd "always wanted to read a Dogman book". It was also beautiful to see students from one culture reading about kids from other cultures. My school library now represents so many students, identities, and cultures. THANKS TO YOU. We have stories from all over the world!
In addition to my kids in person, my kids on Zoom also benefited from your generosity! They enjoyed when I read the books out loud to them. Their favorite was " Thank you Omu!" I am looking forward to sharing these books with students for many years.”

Funded May 5, 2021During my short time with my printer I can already tell the impact it will have in my classroom. I am able to be more efficient with my lesson planning because I can print things on the spot. Additionally, I was able to print a brand new bulletin board right from my classroom! I no longer have to take my work home with me and print a single copy to copy at work later.
My students were very excited to see their teacher with a brand new printer and it fit perfectly in our classroom. I am looking forward to printing student projects next year when things return to normal.”

Funded Oct 20, 2020The Scholastic News Magazines and TeachersPayTeachers gift cards that were donated to my class as a result of your generosity have been a great gift. Due to the pandemic, my students are on Zoom for most of the day and Scholastic News has given us an opportunity to do something different a couple days a week. This resource has allowed me to create engaging lessons and expose the kids to current events. They have really enjoyed having their magazine subscription.
We use Scholastic News twice a week in the classroom and practice reading comprehension strategies. We also use it to practice our fluency and discuss current events. It has been an amazing resource in our class. The gift card has been extremely helpful to find ready-made math and science pages for my students to practice their learning with.”

Funded Sep 1, 2020In August of 2020, I realized the "technology gap" within my classroom and the circumstances my students had to face during distance learning. While headphones may seem like a basic tool, most of my students did not own any. The headphones have allowed my students to hear me more clearly and speak into their microphone. Many of my other students have siblings in classes with other teachers and the headphones have allowed them to only hear my voice. My students are no longer distracted by other noise that they may be hearing at home.
My students also had the experience of owning something that is completely theirs and that they do not need to share. Many of their faces lit up when I gave them a brand new box of headphones and they kept asking "do we have to return them?". They were very excited when I would let them know they can keep them. The headphones are being used everyday and we are loving them!”
