  • New Equipment for CES P.E.!

    Funded Jan 13, 2025

I am overwhelmed with gratitude. I posted this fundraiser on Friday and it was fully funded by Monday afternoon. I’m am blown away by your generosity (and how quickly you made this happen!!!!) Because it was funded so quickly, we will probably be able to use these mats in our current gymnastics unit THIS month! I can’t wait and I know the kids will be thrilled! Thank you so very much. ❤️”

  • Math Manipulatives for Online Learners

    Funded Sep 17, 2020

I cannot tell you enough how much your generosity has benefited the children in my first grade math class. When I first got word that I would be taking over a first grade math class remotely, my first question was, "Ok. What materials do the kids have?". Since we were not allowed to send home any curriculum related materials, that basically left us with absolutely nothing.

Math in the first grade is heavily dependent on manipulative materials to help the kids actually see and move objects to count, add and subtract. Without them, math can be very abstract and difficult to understand. Thanks to you, I was able to buy dice to help build subitizing fluency (when you can just look at a quantity and see how many without counting). We played some sort of dice game every day. I was also able to buy dominoes which we used for subitizing and adding and subtracting, decks of cards for each student, pattern blocks, white board markers, Unifix cubes and base 10 blacks to teach place value. I made little "math baggies" filled with these supplies and passed them out to each child. It was such a treat for them to get a bag of goodies, and it was a treat for me because they were excited about learning!

I honestly don't know what I would have done without your help. Because of you, I had children participating in class who didn't come to any other online classes. I had parents thanking me for making math so much fun for their children. I attribute the success of this first grade math class to your generosity. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Bunch

I will be teaching math to first grade students at home. Young children learn best by playing and manipulating object that they can see in front of them. Unfortunately, our school can not provide essential math manipulatives like unifix cubes, dice, counters, base 10 blocks, dominoes or white boards to our students while we are learning at home. Our school is 100% virtual right now, so I think it is very important to make sure our students have access to these materials at home, just like they do at school.
