When students are learning how to read, It helps to have many books they can read independently. Struggling students may stay at a certain level for a while, so having a variety of books at their independent level keeps them engaged. I’ll read some of the books to the students during distance-learning and some I’ll simply introduce and then they will have books to look forward to reading when they get back to the actual classroom. I would also like these books to feature characters that look like my students!
