In speech therapy, my kiddos work very hard on a variety of communication skills whether it be their articulation, the ability to respond to WH-?'s, produce grammatically correct sentences to communicate a message effectively, or how to engage appropriately within social interactions with peers. As we all know, it is not always one's favorite thing to work on the areas that are difficult for us. These times are often frustrating, and we feel like giving up. Therefore, speech therapy sessions often utilize games and hands-on materials to keep my students engaged, and provide motivation to work on skills that are challenging to them. During this unprecedented time, school is going to look very different for my speech students in grades K-5. No hugs or high-fives when they accomplish a goal. No games to play just as a reward. I want to do everything I can to continue to make learning fun for my students because they deserve the best I can give them. Most sessions will be completed virtually, increasing the challenge to keep students engaged. However, there are lots of materials that have been created online which I know my students will enjoy. It may not be the same as before, but I truly feel that these activities will be fun for the kids and the best way to target their skills. Please consider donating these Teachers pay Teachers gift cards in order to obtain these new materials for my students. Any help given would be greatly appreciated.
