Social Emotional Cricut Creations
Funded Sep 16, 2020Central School's new Cricut machine has helped create the positive school climate we were hoping for! During this Pandemic, students and staff have been struggling with emotions and uncertainty of what each week will bring. We created positive door signs, t-shirts, and masks for staff and students. This helped put emphasis on Kindness, Empathy, Understanding, and Respect.
We have designated days in our school for Kindness wear. We were able to create Kindness masks. This type of social-emotional learning promotes positive relationships, caring students, and unity in our school. We were also able to make shields with animals on them for Halloween. This made the process of having to wear a mask or a shield more inviting for the students. The students were so excited to see the Cricut machine in use and be part of their creations. Getting to wear what they created was the most exciting part for them!
One of our many school plans going forward is to use the Cricut machine to create materials for the Great Kindness Challenge in January. We will be engaging in a school-wide activity called "It's Raining Kindness." Students will all take part in writing down and noticing the kind acts of their classmates and peers. This will be displaced on raindrops in the school and the Cricut machine will be used to enhance the display.
Central staff and students can not thank you enough for your generosity. A smile is worth a thousand words!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Enis
