  • Sit and Read With Kindergarten

    My students enjoy diverse books in so many ways; such as reading books that are of diverse ethnicities, languages, and books that they can relate to and connect with real-life events.

    Also, my class enjoys having a whole group reading time after lunchtime.

    Where they can relax, ask questions, and answer different questions; where they can discover many interesting things that are unknown at their age.

    When my student received these materials, they were very appreciative. They also enjoy placing them on the bookshelf; where they can have access, when they're having their independent reading time. The next steps for my kindergarten class are to learn how to take care of the books with proper care, and to learn how to identify books by genre.

  • Great Readers In the Making

    My students enjoyed from me reading books to them; and they also had learned how to sit quietly to listen the stories, predict events, and on how to raise their hand when they want to ask a question related to the text. I had introduced books that we all can relate with as for example; I am Enough, I love my hair, and many others from the list that were donated.

    • My students can't wait everyday for story time, because it's like an adventure, even when we are virtual. I put lots of emotions, suspense, and creative ideas to catch my students attention, which it had work for me very well.

    •My whole class in general has benefited from these texts. I give them the choice to voice their opinions about what books to read for the day.”

The materials "Books" asked for will help my students and myself to build up a library that will enrich my students' knowledge from the different types of books that there are. There are a variety of books that were requested that will be used for the whole group Language arts lesson, for Social Studies, and even for those days that we may not be able to enjoy from recess time; due to weather inclement. The teacher will have interesting books handy to keep the class engaged, with reading and teaching the students the proper way on how to use the classroom library. All of the books that I have chosen has been with my students on my mind. I also have learned what topics they like to enjoy when it comes to reading. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy their independent reading time.
