  • Stepping Into the Story!

    Funded Aug 30, 2021

My students really enjoyed reading the novel, Fish in a Tree and discussing the various themes and topics that came up in the story. We read every single page together in class by listening to the audio book and pausing at different parts to discuss.

I used resources from TPT to help facilitate the discussions and activities related to the story. They were a great way to help my students engage with the text and connect with the characters and storyline. My students were enthusiastic about reading, writing, and drawing about this incredible novel.

One student in particular became very fond of the main character, Ally. She couldn't wait to read the next chapter each time we opened our books. I loved watching my students get so excited about reading and sharing their predictions, thoughts, and opinions about the story. I am so grateful for having had the opportunity to spark a new interest in reading for some of my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Gevorgyan

I know my students will love the new stories and activities I will be incorporating into our daily social emotional lessons! Thank you so much for all the kindness you've shown to my students and myself!”

I would love to be able to give my students the incredible experience of picking up their own copy of a chapter book and reading it together with their classmates. When each student is given their own copy of the book, they are more engaged during the reading and lessons to follow. This novel study will give my students the opportunity to dive deep into the text and have meaningful class discussions about the different points of view from each of the characters, share their predictions and inferences, draw conclusions, and most importantly, develop and enhance their love of reading chapter books. The wonderful teacher-created resources on TPT will help me develop appropriate lessons for my students to enjoy their discussions and activities about the story. By donating to this project, you will support my students' in meeting so many of the Common Core Standards. They will not only be working on their reading fluency and comprehension but also improve their listening and speaking standards. In addition, this story is a great way to discuss the challenges that come with being a 5th grader who struggles with reading and getting along with their peers.
