I am requesting building materials, magnetic black and other resources so that all of our first grade students will be able to start their mornings off at school in a stimulating way. When we are allowed to return to campus in the fall, students will head straight to their classrooms instead of the playground. We don't know exactly what this will look like, but we do know students will be spending much of their time distanced and working with individual materials. By providing these hands on resources that students can safely access at their own seats, we will bring creativity and excitement into the classroom. They will be able to think, explore, create, build, and play first thing in the morning. This will get them excited for the school day ahead. I've selected many hands on activities, that the student's will keep at their desks for the week. At the end of the week, they will turn in their mornings bins to be sanitized. The activities will then rotate the following week, and each student will get something new and exciting to explore. The morning bins can also be used throughout the day when the students need to remain distanced, but they need an activity to do at their desk. This will especially be helpful for students who have all had to rely so much on screens. What a great way to get a stimulating break, without having to rely on devices!
