In todays world most all students have their ears connected to ear buds or head phones, listening to music, pod cast, or just using them for noise reductions. With Kindles, iPads and other technological devices students can improve their reading ability just by listening. Audiobooks have traditionally been used with second-language learners, learning-disabled students, and struggling or non-readers. In many cases, audiobooks have proven successful in helping students to access literature and enjoy books. My school cannot afford audiobooks, and this project will provide resources to help my reluctant and struggling readers learn better and embrace the wonder of reading. My students struggle with reading, as most are auditory learners. They have reading deficiencies, but they have great brains. Having audio at the click of a button will not only enhance and improve their reading and comprehension ability, it will open new avenues that were once limited to them. This will be a great asset to those who are virtual learners as well. ALL students can benefit! Audiobooks will be a welcome addition to my students. Some are avid readers (at their grade levels) while others are struggling to become readers and others have given up hope. Audiobooks have something to offer all of them. My students will benefit greatly from audiobooks, and I am very hopeful my project will get funded.
