I am wanting to set up a sensory station in my room to help those who need just a little extra time getting used to exploring new things in this world and working on their fine motor skills. Sensory stations are important because they help a child navigate their different senses in a controlled safe environment. The materials above are going to be used to help children ease their tension with learning. Things like flexible seating, interactive steps, and sensory fidgets will create an outlet for children to calm their active bodies to free up their mind. I have seen many classrooms use sensory materials with all ranges of students and the results are consistently positive.
These materials will help improve my classroom and create an exciting environment to encourage children to love learning!
Other materials are being used in speech therapy itself. Things like a big model of the mouth will help students visualize what they are needing to be working on. Games are used to work on social skills as well as making therapy fun so kids want to learn!
