Classroom Essentials
Funded Nov 9, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donation. With your help my students now have access to much needed supplies. Pencils are always needed in my room. I keep the mini Ticonderoga pencils at my table for small groups. Now it's never a problem if a student comes without one.
The biggest game changer by far are the reinforced plastic pouches. We are using them in MANY ways. I keep fully stocked bags at my small group table. I am able to fit a dry erase board, marker, eraser, glue stick, high lighter and scissors in a pouch. This makes for a quick transition between whole group and small group. Many students in my classes are not able to afford their own supplies. I am able to provide anyone in need with a pouch that contains all of the supplies needed for school. I have stashed extra scissors, map puzzles and timers in these pouches. Students are able to access these supplies with ease.
Finally, we are all most grateful for the soft tissues and antibacterial wipes. School issued tissues feel like sandpaper on a runny nose. The last few months students (and their teacher) have been sneezing and coughing like mad. I am able to keep the room sanitized and they are able to continue through their day without their little noses burning.
Thank you again for your gift.”

Funded Oct 3, 2023What a difference your donation has made in the lives of my students! With your help, I have been able to provide my students with much needed snacks and hygiene products. Fifth grade is a time of change for many students. Your donations have made that transition a little easier.
My fifth graders face many changes and challenges in their lives. As puberty fast approaches, many are not prepared for the changes in their bodies or appetites! With your help, I was able to distribute a deodorant to every child who wanted one. Many students initially felt bashful when presented with the opportunity to access a free deodorant. However, once the first five asked for deodorant the floodgates opened and I gave away nearly every deodorant in my order.
By far the most popular items in this bundle are the snacks. Students who need a little something to help carry them through the day know that I have food available if they need it. Some of my students struggle with food scarcity and it's a relief to know that I can send them home over the weekend with some treats.”

Your support has added value to our students' learning experience, and I cannot thank you enough for your thoughtful contribution. The impact of your donation extends far beyond the books themselves; it has ignited a passion for learning in our fifth-grade students that is truly remarkable.
The biographies you provided have become treasured resources in our classroom, offering our students a diverse and engaging glimpse into the lives of extraordinary individuals. It's heartening to witness the enthusiasm that has swept through the class as the students eagerly delve into the stories of these remarkable figures. Your generosity has not only expanded our literary repertoire but has also broadened the horizons of our young learners, fostering a love for reading and a curiosity about the world.
The excitement radiating from our fifth-grade students as they discuss and share insights from these biographies are truly heartwarming. Your thoughtful donation has not only enriched our curriculum but has also inspired a sense of curiosity and empathy in our students. Funded Dec 16, 2020I want to thank you for your generous contribution. Teaching remote over the past year has been challenging for teachers, students and their families. You can't imagine how thrilled I was when I saw that my project on Donors Choose was fully funded. Your donation has made a major impact on my ability to teach my students.
When I opened the box containing the iPad, air pods and iPencil, I couldn't wait to start using them. Little did I know, how helpful these new tools would be. I use all of these EVERY day. The airpods have made it much easier for students to hear me during read alouds. I use the iPad to project my lessons into my google meet. This allows me to use my computer as a monitor. I can still see my students as I share lessons, notes and videos with them. Before I had the iPad, I could present my screen but could not see my students. I couldn't tell if if someone had raised their hand or just looked confused. The iPad changed all of that in a instant. The iPencil allows me to add notes to texts in real time. I underline and highlight with ease, allowing my students at home to understand where they should focus their attention. Speaking of attention...my ring light with a phone mount puts my well lit face front and center when I record lessons.
I look forward to returning to in person teaching and sharing these tools with my students face to face. I am grateful to donors to like you, who have made the challenge of teaching and learning from home a little easier.”
