  • Spread the Word! Reading Is for Everyone!

    Funded May 13, 2023

We have been able to help our ESL population function better in class, particularly those who are completely new to English. Several students were completely lost in their classes because of the language barrier. Not only was it difficult to reach these students, but it was difficult to conference with their parents regarding their school work and progress. Several of our students have stated that this was great for them and that it helped them to fit in better and feel a part of things.

Our teachers are raving about how this tool is helping them get across to both their students and conversate with their parents. It has made it easier to translate lectures, textbooks, and other materials.

We had a parent and community outreach program where several parents were able to use these to participate and feel a part of the community.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cooper

  • Help Create a Safe Paperless Community!

    Funded Oct 27, 2020

Unfortunately I got Covid that year and when I returned that year none of my students came back but chose to continue with remote learning. So I was unable to use the devices as planned that year. However, being a dept chair, I am currently using the devices for training other teachers and in current classes and in other student driven events.

I am able to use them when students are absent to create videos where I have to instruct students by writing on the board are moving in different areas of the classroom it allows me the freedom to do so while keeping the camera on me so they don't miss anything while they're out.

We have also use them in student council events and film presentations throughout the school in order to look more professional and fluent in our presentations.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Cooper

As the pandemic hit schools last year we were forced to speed up our quest to become a paperless community. We were applying for grants and working with our funding as a Title I school to put devices in the hands of each of our students, to aid in the new culture of technology. While that was difficult in itself, because we are more than 90% low socioeconomic district we have now been able to do it. However, with students being out of school the remainder of last year it was extremely difficult for them to get work turned in, because even with the device many of them did not have printers to print out their assignments and complete them, and using their fingers to annotate and write was not easy for them, and harder for us. As we return to school we want to remain a paperless community, but our students still need to complete assignments. I want to have at least a classroom set of stylus that are conducive to writing for them to use. Please help me, as last year so many of our students had difficulty with this and many assignments were incomplete because they were not able to print out their worksheets or draw their graphs. I teach AP Micro/Macroeconomics for 12 graders and there is a lot of math and graphs that have to be demonstrated.
