  • Reeds for Wind Instruments

    Funded Aug 18, 2022

WOW! Thank you for starting my 10th year as a teacher with a bang. I could not believe that this project was funded within a week. I feel so honored and humbled by your generous contributions.

Reeds are a necessary tool for my clarinet and saxophone students. Without it they aren't able to make a sound. They aren't able to be shared for sanitary reasons and they also decay with time and use. These boxes of reeds will not only allow my students to continue making music, but they will also be able to expand their skill set and challenge themselves by trying out thicker reed numbers. Thank you again for supporting so many students on their musical journey.”

  • The World on a String

    Funded May 4, 2022

Thank you again for your generous donation to my program. New strings are a highly necessary aspect of any successful orchestra program and my students were so excited when the boxes and boxes of strings arrived.

At the end of last year I was able to change many old strings and replace them with beautiful new materials. As a result my students are playing with more confidence! This gift continues to give, as I am now assessing and changing strings in the new school year. Many insturments simply sat in the music room during 2020. As a result it it amazing to give new life to the instrument so that a deserving student can achieve their goal of becoming a musician!”

  • Music Books for Beginning Strings

    Funded Nov 10, 2021

When I received the email that this project had been funded I though there had to be a mistake. 3 days and over 1,000$ worth of music books? It sounded too good to be true! My beginning strings class is my largest class, with a grand total of 65 students. They are so excited to have brand new method books! The day the boxes arrived in my classroom the kiddos literally screamed with joy. It was a moment I will have on replay in my head for years to come.

Thank you so much for your incredibly generous gift, and for supporting my music program. This donation will serve many students for years to come.”

  • Music Books for Beginning Winds and Band

    Funded Nov 1, 2021

    Wow!

Thank you so much for your kindness in assisting us with this project. The Essential Element method books that we were using were very old and falling apart. Almost every single day a student would come forward and let me know that they would need to share with their stand partner, or borrow a different copy because they had missing pages. Now each student has their own brand new shiny method book and they are ecstatic. The day I passed out the new books, each kid came up an personally thanked me. I told them that this was only made possible thanks to the amazing people at donors choose. So thank you again for giving us this gift. Students for years to come will be able to use these method books.”

  • Ring Ring! Help Provide Bell Kits for Middle Schoolers

    Funded Aug 28, 2020

Thanks to your generous donation my students are now able to play and practice music on a daily basis.

When I told them the project had been fully funded they were ecstatic. This energy was only matched when they came to school to pick up their instrument. This was a special moment for us, because it was the first time we were able to meet in person. Who knew you could still see a smile even through a mask?!

Since then we have already started to play short pieces. We have learned 9 notes on the music staff and almost all of the basic rhythms. They love playing. Many of my students ask if they can demonstrate a new song they learned in front of the class. We will continue to add new notes and rhythms to our repertoire, with a virtual online performance as an end of the year goal.

Again, thank you for making this a possibility. Making music brings us great joy in these trying times.”

If my project is fully funded students will be able to play an instrument at home on a daily basis. Frequent practice is necessary for a student to learn an instrument. How can they improve if they don't have an instrument to play? This will allow us to: - Learn how to read music notation - Perform in a virtual setting - Encourage collaborative skills - Learn music theory basics - Develop creative expression - Meet the National Standards for Music -Practice their instrument and strive for musical excellence - Provide students with a fun escape from the realities of 2020
