  • Every Math Problem Counts

    Funded Dec 13, 2024

We did it!! Thank you so much to everyone who donated to my project. I am humbled by your generosity. Sometimes it feels difficult to make an impact in the classroom, so every tool and every bit of support matters. I will ensure that I use this software with fidelity to help reach my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Perugini

  • So Much to Do, So Few Screens to Use

    Funded Aug 23, 2020

Thank you so much for donating to this project. It has helped me immensely in the classroom and therefore has helped my students learn. I use the iPad and Apple pencil daily to write on my PowerPoints and work out examples for my students. In office hours and tutoring, I am able to have a blank canvas to allow students to ask me specific questions to help their individual needs.

Math is inherently difficult to type. Not only are there a myriad of symbols, but there are also specific steps and norms that usually require a written format. Virtual learning took all of that away from me, but you have helped me find a way to bring it to Zoom. I can't promise that my teaching was perfect this year, but it was definitely a mile ahead of where I was before this project.

From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for helping me through a truly insane first semester of teaching.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Perugini

Teaching virtually is challenging regardless of the resources available to the teacher or the classroom. However, it is significantly more challenging to run Zoom classrooms when only one screen is available to the teacher. Ideally, I want my classroom to be collaborative and goal-oriented. I want to accomplish this by using resources such as Nearpod, Schoology, and group projects. In order to accomplish this in an efficient manner, it would be amazing to be able to connect my laptop to an iPad. An iPad tops the list of best tablets for teachers on many lists across the internet. I can use it on Zoom calls to write out my steps for solving math problems via sharing my screen. I can use it to create interactive slide shows via Nearpod to engage my students. I can use it to annotate lesson plans, to solve district assessments, and to collate resources. I can download the Schoology app to be more available to my students. I can keep going with the myriad of ways the iPad would see use in my virtual classroom, but I'll stop here. My goal is to be the best possible teacher for my students. I think about what I can do to help them succeed and learn every day. I want to do right by them, so I am asking for your help in making me more efficient and available for my students. Thank you.
