  • Rock Solid Fun: Fossil Fun With Hands on Learning

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

Thank you for your generous donations to this project. Our class has spent plenty of time enjoying the tools to make learning fun. This learning experience would not have been possible without your support. The kids were able to work collaboratively to learn from the owl pellets, use the digging tools and putting the bones they found together like a real paleontologist. Some have even mentioned wanting to make discoveries in the future. The insight fossils gave them sparked their curiosity and these one of a kind experiences will motivate them even more.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Cruz

  • Home Sweet Classroom

    Funded Sep 20, 2023

Thank you for the love and support you have shown the Birch class. The children have taken advantage of the materials both in the classroom and learning in the community. The children have used these materials to build on their learning for all subject areas. Word work has become more fun for the Birchies as they are able to write on the tables, share their work and work in groups. They use their problem solving skills to work their way around the math centers; solving math problems while showing their thinking.

We have also taken the learning outside of the classroom by using the materials on our community walks. The children use these materials to learn as they explore the community they live in and learn in. We have much more time till the end of the school year and their is no doubt they will continue to use these materials in future projects.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Cruz

  • Equal, Accessible and Safe Education for All.

    Funded Aug 31, 2020

Thank you for your generous donations. All of the students reacted with joy upon gettin their very own supplies. During these uncertain times, it's great to see a glimpse of joy on the children's face as they are able to enjoy being children and forget about other issues we are all facing with this pandemic. The supplies have gone to help students participate to the fullest extent this school year whether they are hybrid or completely remote. As part of our Anti-racist curriculum this year, the students have used these supplies as we do work on Identity. The children have created self portraits of themselves in various forms. As we were in an election year; we learned about the election process and the difference that occurred with whom could vote. The children were determined to convince adults in their families, homes and community to vote and did their part by creating banners that reminded others to vote. As an incentive, they also created voting badges for adults that did their part and voted. Supplies will towards children using their creativity during our project times. This is a time where children are able to explore and create art to their liking. With the stress of the pandemic and remote learning, this time is crucial to relieve some of that stress and escape the stress of remote learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Cruz

Technology and education go hand in hand and if they are used together they can compliment each other spectacularly. Our classroom community needs a color printer to support our visual learners during these difficult times. Visual supports will help students learn new skills, know what to do, and to help them feel included. When students know what is expected or know what to do, behavior issues may reduce and engagement increases. Overall, these tools will be used to support students that have difficulty with remote learning and working on a device. Equitable education is a right each student has. With these supports students can achieve academically but also be better prepared for the world. With your help, we can bring education and technology together and give students the supports they need.
