Diverse minds require diverse classrooms with lots of options, variety, and ways to interact with the material being taught.
The world needs all kinds of minds. This is a value of mine as a Special Education teacher. I want to celebrate the diverseness in my classroom by providing resources that help my students succeed.
Flexible seating encourages responsibility and choice-making. They are often able to focus better in a setting that they are most comfortable in. I know I hate sitting in a hard chair all day without being to move!
Early math and literacy skills are vital to a child's success. I want to encourage my students to build those skills by making it fun! Google-eyes for their fingers help encourage them to point at letters/words. Number lines provide a simple visual for them to follow along with. It helps them to be able to interact with what they are learning!
Lastly, sensory items help my students to understand their bodies and it encourages self-advocacy. My students can start to learn how to ask for fidgets and be able to recognize when their body is encouraging them to move. Thank you for considering my project! My students will appreciate the resources immensely.
