These materials will make a huge impact on my students' learning. I am very dramatic when it comes to teaching and using a lot of movement during instruction. Language learners benefit from watching vocabulary and ideas being acted out. I'll be able to maintain my style of teaching with the stand, holder, and wireless microphone. I prefer using actual anchor charts instead of just sharing my screen. We have very limited space and I'll be in a room with a room divider. The microphone will allow my students to hear me without me having to yell if I'm away from my iPad or computer.
Even though learning virtually can be very exciting, we should not forget about the positive impact using traditional classroom materials can have. Students need more than just an iPad to show their learning and interact with. I started using interactive language arts notebooks last year. Each student received a notebook and pencils. I found that students really enjoy the mechanical kind over traditional pencils. As each topic was presented, the students pasted the charts, tabs, note guides with flaps, etc. into the correct section. I found that students took their learning much more seriously because they had a notebook that they created; it was not just a published notebook that looked like everyone else's. The notebook includes student goals, a reading survey, mini lesson page, comprehension page, letters to the teacher page with prompts, phonics, and grammar. It was really exciting to see it evolve into something much more than I had ever anticipated. The best templates are from Teachers Pay Teachers. I'm so excited to use them with my new students this year!
