  • Refocus, Reset, and Energize Space for Sensory and Behaviors Students

    Funded Feb 7, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting my students and I with resources that allow my students to be able to refocus, reset, and energize them so that they can return to the general education classroom.

My students often need a place where they can calm down and refocus their thoughts. The resources included in this grant have allowed for students to come into a small area, sit at a table, and draw/work on projects relate to the curriculum that they are working on in the general education classroom.

The sounds and low lightening included in the grant, create an environment that emulates peace and tranquility in order to take away any frustrations. These resources have proved invaluable and have allowed my students a quick release/refocus area to take a break and reenergize them so that they can return to their classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Saunders

  • Sensory Materials and Resources

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you for your support with my project "Sensory Materials and Resources". Your generous donation has allowed me to provide my students with resources that are content rich and have sensory impacts.

My students have had the opportunity on several occasions to use these materials in the special education room, as well as in their general education classroom. One example of a favorite resource that my students have enjoyed is the math cones and scoops activity. Each cone has a number and the students find the corresponding number of scoops to place on the cone that add up to the numeral on the cone. Due to the multiple different color scoops, students are also creating patterns representing the corresponding scoops. Additionally, this activity provides conversation starters that allow my students to reset and refocus prior to returning back to their general education classrooms.

My students are so fortunate to be provided with these materials to help them make their learning experience better. We appreciate your kindness, generosity, and help in making this project a reality!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Saunders

  • Closing Reading and Math Gaps

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

Thank you so much for the help with making this project a reality. My students love playing the learning games. It has increased their understanding of number and helped them with sounding out and blending words to help them read.

My students get excited every time they get to use these fun and engaging learning games. One game in particular game centers around making ice cream based on the number indicated on the ice cream cone. For example, if the cone had the number 9, the student would need to stack 9 plastic scoops of ice cream onto the cone. Students can mix colors or try to keep all of the color scoops the same. Some students have even made a repeated pattern of scoops (red, blue, green, repeat), which is an additional math skill they need to master in Kindergarten and 1st grade.

Thank you again for helping my students learn missed skills in a fun and engaging way. Your support, kindness and generosity are appreciated more than you could possibly know.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Saunders

  • Engagement, Modeling & Extended Learning for Students with Disabilities

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

Thank you so much for supporting my project, "Engagement, Modeling, & Extended Learning for Students with Disabilities". I have received the iPad, screen protector, and hard cover case. Due to virtual learning, If have not been able to have students physically use the iPad in person as of today. However, the impact once we return to in person learning will be beneficial on multiple fronts. Students will be able to trace letters, model mathematics,

The use of technology will help my students with engagement, fine motor schools, learning their individualized education goals/objectives, and the ability to access new knowledge that is being taught in the general education classroom. By having this tool, it will help create different types of engagement strategies for my students to close the gaps of knowledge that they have with their grade aged peers.

The most exciting component of the iPad for use with my students is the ability to use a device that they may use at home (or their parents may use at home) to learn important skills, knowledge and new abilities. Thank you again for helping me with my students and providing them with a new tool to help them learn!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Saunders

I teach K-1 students with disabilities. My students require engaging activities to help them close their learning gaps, hone their foundational skills, and make learning fun. My students are 5-7 years old and have small attention spans for the most part. During the virtual learning process, I would like to make learning more engaging and model educational programs and apps that will help my students with ways to bridge their gaps in learning. By modeling these programs and apps together, I will be able to instruct new content and explain how my students can extend the use of these programs when they are working independently or with their parents at home. The use of the iPad, via programs and apps, will provide a fun way to instruct and engage my students when they are learning the knowledge, skills and abilities (such as: letter/sound relationship, identifying and counting numbers, etc) that will help close some of the learning gaps of their grade age peers that do not have learning disabilities. Once in person learning resumes, students will be using the programs and apps via manipulation of the iPad during small group instruction and pull out lessons.
