I teach K-1 students with disabilities. My students require engaging activities to help them close their learning gaps, hone their foundational skills, and make learning fun. My students are 5-7 years old and have small attention spans for the most part. During the virtual learning process, I would like to make learning more engaging and model educational programs and apps that will help my students with ways to bridge their gaps in learning. By modeling these programs and apps together, I will be able to instruct new content and explain how my students can extend the use of these programs when they are working independently or with their parents at home. The use of the iPad, via programs and apps, will provide a fun way to instruct and engage my students when they are learning the knowledge, skills and abilities (such as: letter/sound relationship, identifying and counting numbers, etc) that will help close some of the learning gaps of their grade age peers that do not have learning disabilities. Once in person learning resumes, students will be using the programs and apps via manipulation of the iPad during small group instruction and pull out lessons.
