AR in our STEM Class

Funded Nov 11, 2020

As you know, this school year was unlike any other. I was chosen (before this project was fully funded) to remain virtual throughout this school year. Meaning that I would not have physical students in my classroom. I chose to integrate Merge Cubes as I am currently in graduate school for a Master's of Education in Educational Technology have done research on the effect of integrating Virtual reality tools, especially in science class.

Due to in person state testing requirement, I was finally able to meet my students in person last week. The first thing I did before administering the state test, was allow my students time to explore the Merge Cubes. Words can't describe how happy I was seeing my students engage with the technology and hearing their laughs and excited exclamations in person.

In less than 15 minutes, the students used the Merge cubes to hold a cloud in their hand, watch the water cycle in action, explore the solar system, and hold parts of the human body.

I have several colleagues that have asked to use the Merge Cubes as well, so your generous donations have affected many more students than initially planned. The next steps would be to organize a check out system so my colleagues can use them when they wish to.

The 2021-2022 school year will be in person, and I have Merge Cube learning activities planned for them that will create multi-sensory memories with the content and will result in greater understanding than ever before.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Sicre
