My students have learning disabilities and are learning to read. They need to be able to put their hands on books in order to learn about the different parts of books ( i.e. cover, spine). Additionally, I need to see them use their fingers to show me that they know which direction to go when reading. They need to be able to differentiate between letters, words, sentences, and punctuation. Also, it would be nice for them to have an opportunity to read a book away from the computer screen. Students are spending a significant amount of time in front of screens, having a book to read personally, will allow them the space to read wherever and however they want.
