Badminton: Physical Activity and Social Distancing All in One!

Funded Sep 28, 2020

We have been able to use the resources in a few different ways already! We used the nets for balloon volleyball with the younger students and the older students were able to try out badminton right before Christmas break. We hope to really get into badminton later on in the year when the weather gets nicer.

It was fun watching the fifth graders dive on the floor to hit the birdie and hearing shouts of victory when they scored. The kids were so excited to see the smaller nets. These smaller nets lend themselves very easily to small sided games which is perfect for the kids when they are learning a new skill.

We are currently working on cup stacking and are looking into getting timing mats for the kids to be able to see how fast they are able to complete the cup stacking tasks and measure how much improvement they are making. Cup stacking is used to work on dexterity, hand eye coordination and crossing the midline. It makes students activate both side of their brain and takes lots of practice and discipline.

Thank you so much for all your support, financially and other wise. Our students at Jones really appreciate exposure to new experiences and materials!”

With gratitude,

Coach Cash
