Help Our Classroom Learn at Home with Manipulatives!

Thanks to all the donors my project was funded and supplies were given to each of my 1st grade students. They picked them up the first day of school in August when we were distance learning. Each day students were able to use the materials to help with sight word practice and math number sentences. We were able to do guided writing practice using the white boards as well. Having these materials made schooling over distance learning so much easier because they didn't need to have use loose papers to write down their learning.

When the students first saw the materials they were so excited! Their eyes lit up with joy. They couldn't believe they each got to take home a set of Unifix cubes and counters to help them with math. The first day we had our zoom call, they just wanted to keep writing on the white board. We did sight words, math, writing, and even some drawing.

Thankfully, in September we were able to come back to school in person. These educational tools were so essential because each student had their own set and they didn't have be sanitized and shared with one another. Being granted these materials have been a true blessing during this pandemic.

Because of these materials I have been able to really help students with understanding hard concepts. These materials have provided a hands on way for students to show their understandings and share with others their way of thinking. I am able to do small group work to really focus on each students needs. Each student has the opportunity to work at their own level and be able to express their knowledge in a way that best fits them.”
