In our classroom we use flexible seating. This means that when students are working, they will have the freedom to find comfortable spaces around the room to work. They could choose to kneel, stand, lean on a pillow, sit in a variety of chair types, use a clipboard, etc. My students need a variety of seating options to find the one that helps them learn best that day.
It is important for my students to take ownership of how they learn and work best. Structure and expectations are high for work quality and behavior. It is very important for my students to be comfortable during their learning so that they may be fully engaged and focused on what they are doing. All my students will get to try out all of the seating options included in the products I selected and decide if that style helped them focus more, or if it didn't work out for them. The floor dots and kneeling pads will be used as floor seating options for kids who don't like working on a table and work best on a clipboard or floor. The light table will be used for students to sit or kneel around to work on their classwork and creations comfortably.
